GQ Asks: What Does Your Tie Knot Say About You?
i think if you had worn
your tie in a double windsor
i might have loved you a little
bit more. silk sliding against silk
sliding against an overly starched
collar. i want, maybe, to see
you loosen your tie in
frustration- but this has nothing
to do with planets orbiting the sun
which have nothing to do with the
way you offered to pay for
dinner or how you squeezed
my hand and leaned in to
whisper that your suit is

Our Manifesto
Strange Commons is a blog managed by Lawrence University's Tropos Literary Magazine. It will feature works submitted by students that include fiction, poetry, art, and anything that engages the artistic imagination, whether it be a scribble or a rant.
Tropos has recognized that people do not leave time to sit down on a Friday night with a good book and a nice cup of tea. We, too, have found ourselves entrapped by busy schedules, sterile technologies, and quick answers to superficial questions. This blog will provide a welcome respite from that college essay we left until the last minute and the dinner we promised we would attend, where we can simply slow down and see that people still enjoy making art reflecting their position in this world. We hope that the work of those featured on this blog will fuel your desire to create.
